Tyler Rorls

Tyler Rorls — TJ around the office — spent more than ten years in the U.S. Air Force before turning toward IT and cybersecurity. He's finishing a bachelor's in Cybersecurity Management and Policy at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where he earned an associate's degree first, and he arrived with what a decade in uniform actually teaches: leadership, adaptability, and an ease with people from every walk of life.

He came to technology because it never runs out of problems. He likes taking things apart, working out how they run, and — ideally — putting them back together correctly. He also learns out loud. His own view is that the best learning starts the moment you're willing to say you don't know the answer yet, which is a rarer quality in this field than it ought to be.

The Air Force also gave him Japan. He fell for the country and the culture while he was stationed there and intends to keep going back, wallet permitting. Off the clock: the gym, gaming, hiking, karaoke, unfamiliar food, and three pets.

TJ is considerably more approachable than his default facial expression would have you believe.
